Xemtec and the environment

Utilities companies are under constant public pressure (not always fairly, as they are the supplier rather than consumer) to provide energy efficiencies.

Xemtec strive to make these efficiencies easier for utilities companies to realise. We also try to match the efforts of utilities companies by constantly improving energy efficiency in our own products and manufacturing. Xemtec products are entitled by DEFRA (UK) to use the ETL symbol in the context of the Carbon Trust initiative.

1. No wastage of existing metering, and no resulting waste disposal problems, as no meter modification or replacement are needed.
2. Extreme reliability of Xemtec’s meter readers mean a minimum of equipment replacement and of inspection and repair visits.
3. Extreme low power consumption – Xemtec has chosen Tadiran batteries, with a lifetime of 10 years or more, to power its Comet Meter Readers.

1. The electrochemical system is non-pressurized
2. The safe internal design includes a limited electrode surface area for limiting the short circuit current
3. Hermetic sealing isolates the cell chemicals from the outside atmosphere, in particular under extreme temperature cycling condition
4. The Electrolyte is non-flammable
5. Tadiran Lithium batteries are free of heavy metals, so they are extremely environmentally friendly
